Bundoran man Thomas Dillon pulled off a picture-perfect proposal last week on Tullan Strand, thanks to an incredible feat of sand art!
Sophie Barrett, the lucky bride-to-be, was treated to a very creative and romantic gesture when Thomas commissioned a stunning piece of sand art just for them.
The scene was created by renowned artist Manuel Frolich (Manu), who etched an intricate compass pattern and a one-of-a-kind aisle for the happy couple.
The proposal was both visually stunning and very carefully planned.
After saying ‘yes’, Sophie was gifted with a wooden carving of the same design, crafted from a 100-year-old tree by Manu’s friend, world-renowned chainsaw carver John Hayes from Special Branch Carvers.
Manu, who is no stranger to the beaches of Donegal, was thrilled with how the proposal turned out.
Originally from South America, the German artist has called Ireland home for 23 years and is now based in Waterford.
His artistic journey with sand murals began 9 years ago, and since 2017, he’s been transforming beaches into canvases for all sorts of celebrations and announcements.
Congratulations to Thomas and Sophie!
With thanks to Michael McCaughey from Bundoran for the drone imagery.
