One of Ireland’s new static speed camera systems will be installed along the main Manor Roundabout to Lifford road (N14) by the end of this year, it has been confirmed.
The cameras are part of a national road safety initiative, with a total of nine being placed in speeding and accident blackspots throughout the country.
The locations of the cameras were chosen based on fatal and serious injury collision data from the last seven years and speed data, as well as feedback from stakeholders.
In an update this week, Gardaí in Donegal have said that the cameras are on the way and that road users will be advised of the location of static speed safety cameras through road signage.
These cameras were one of a range of initiatives announced by the Garda Commissioner earlier this year, including that uniformed Gardaí will devote 30 minites of each tour of duty to roads policing.
