The owners of a popular Donegal gastropub have announced they are closing their kitchen due to rising costs.
Harkin’s Bar of Brockagh/Cloghan said they will no longer serve food or functions from today.
In a social media post, the owners gave assurance that they will continue to operate as a traditional pub.
“We will continue to function as a pub for drinks and look forward to seeing you all. Thanks to all our loyal customers,” the notice said.
Harkin’s, one of Donegal’s longest-established bars, is a popular pit stop on the main Ballybofey to Glenties road and was well-known for its hearty Sunday lunches.
Inflation has been blamed for a series of business closures in Donegal this year. Most recently, the owners of Dohertys XL convenience store in Carrick announced their closure last week after 8 years in business. Owners Andrea and Dermot Doherty said the rising costs of running a small business left them unable to compete with their larger competitors.
