A young child was successfully rescued after being swept out to sea while paddleboarding last weekend.
The incident occurred near Dunmore, Carrickfinn late last Saturday evening.
Bunbeg Coast Guard was immediately dispatched after being tasked to the area by Malin Head Coast Guard.
Arriving on the scene within minutes, the crew located the child stranded on rocks near Magheraclogher Strand and brought them to safety.
Sharing details of the rescue, a spokesperson for Bunbeg Coast Guard said: “We’d like to take this opportunity to praise the bravery of the young child who did everything right and prevented a much worse outcome. The child’s parents also remained calm and alerted the Coast Guard as soon as they realised the seriousness of the situation.
“Please remember, don’t hesitate. Even if you’re unsure, dial 999 or 112 and ask for the Coast Guard.”
