The beloved jersey collection of the late Dermot Maguire will go up for sale tomorrow to support Ardara GAA’s drive to create a sensory room for local families.
Mary and Imelda Maguire made the heartwarming donation in tribute to their brother, a great clubman who sadly passed in July 2023.
Dermot Maguire was widely regarded as one of the club’s finest players during his time on the Junior team, which consistently dominated the county in the late 1980s and early 1990s. While Dermot also played a number of senior games, his true passion lay in Junior football.
Away from the field, Dermot was a valued member of the local Community Employment Scheme and spent many days helping out at Pearse Memorial Park.
The Maguire family’s kind gesture will help bring the club a step closer to their goal of creating a permanent sensory room at Pearse Memorial Park.
The soccer jerseys, of great variety and vintages, will be available to buy this Saturday 31st August as part of a jersey and cake sale fundraiser from 10am to 1pm.
A wide range of clubwear and official Donegal GAA jerseys and training gear will also be available to buy on the day.
Donations of items for the sale can still be dropped off at the Clubhouse behind reception or on Saturday morning.
For those interested in baking treats for the sale, donations can be dropped off at the Clubhouse on Saturday morning. The club’s underage girls have been praised for all their hard work organising the sale.
