Ireland captain Seamus Coleman has been confirmed for Heimir Hallgrímsson’s first Republic of Ireland squad for the upcoming UEFA Nations League matches against England and Greece.
Coleman’s involvement is a welcome boost for the new Head Coach, following the Killybegs man’s return to action for Everton’s victory in the Carabao Cup this week.
Coleman missed the opening two league games of the season after picking up a calf issue during pre-season.
Ireland are set to welcome England to the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, September 7, with kick-off at 5pm, before we face Greece at home on Tuesday, September 10, with kick-off at 7.45pm.
Hallgrímsson has named his first Ireland squad which includes a first call-up for Leicester City winger Kasey McAteer who has completed his paperwork and received international clearance from FIFA. Striker Evan Ferguson is also confirmed as well as Cardiff City striker Callum Robinson, who scored in the South Wales derby at the weekend against Swansea City and Sunderland midfielder Alan Browne.
