The wait is over for thousands of Leaving Cert students today when college offers will be made.
The CAO is due to issue Round One offers to individual applicants from early afternoon and will publish this year’s cut-off points on its website from 2pm.
More than 83,500 have applied to the CAO this year including more than 47,000 students who sat their Leaving Certificate in June.
Eileen Keleghan, communications officer for the CAO, told RTE that students should time to consider any offers today.
She said that from 2pm, they can log onto the website to view and accept an offer if they wish to do so and that applicants have until 3pm on 3 September to accept an offer.
For those unsure, she said it is important to consider the offer in Round One as potentially the only offer they might receive, for example if it is a lower preference.
“You can accept an offer if it’s a lower preference, and you may still be considered for a higher preference offer in a later round if a place becomes available and you’re deemed eligible for it,” she explained.
