Donegal is ranked among the top five places to buy a house, in terms of availability, but one of the worst when it comes to sourcing one to rent.
That’s according to a national report released today by property consultants, Savills Ireland.
The latest research reveals there were 501 houses for sale, meaning there were 29.6 homes available per 10,000 population.
The report stated the reason for the high availability in Donegal is largely due to the number of holiday homes for sale.
However, the county ranked 3rd worst in terms of sourcing homes to rent.
There were only 55 houses available to rent or share, equating to 3.3 per 10,000 people.
Meath and Kildare have among the lowest properties available to buy.
The analysis looked at the number of second-hand properties for sale across the 26 counties, adjusting the number of properties for population.
