Honorary Garda TJ Needham from Drumkeen was presented with her Garda uniform yesterday by some of her colleagues from Letterkenny Garda Station.
“There will be no stopping her now and she is already a force to be reckoned with,” a garda spokesperson said.
“We are always delighted to welcome new Little Blue Heroes to work with us here in Donegal.”
Three-year-old TJ (Tina Joan) was born with severe spina bifida meningocele.
Over the past year, she has been undergoing specialist physiotherapy treatment at the world-renowned Peto Institute in Budapest in her wish to walk.
Her progress has been remarkable to date, according to TJ’s mum Claire McDaid. TJ celebrated taking her first steps last November and is eager to do more.
She returns to the Hungarian capital for another round of treatment in seven weeks
However, each trip to Budapest comes at a great expense to the family, costing €12,000 on average. So, fundraising is a priority to ensure TJ’s treatment can continue.
