A young Donegal businesswoman has been praised for keeping her shop doors open as a safe haven for schoolchildren in need.
Megan Ruddy of Petals Boutique ladies store on Dunfanaghy Main Street offers a warm and dry space for children who may find themselves stranded.
The idea for the emergency waiting place originated several years ago and has been hailed as a valuable resource for the community.
Megan explained, “We just wanted to let all parents know our store can be used as a safe place in an emergency for your children if they miss their bus or their lift home from school.
“Your child can stay inside warm and dry in our store.
“Our phones are available if they need to call home and we’ll ensure their safety until someone can call and collect them.”
As the new school year approaches, Megan is reminding parents to be aware of the service and to inform their children about the option to go into Petals if they need to.
Megan and the Petals staff have been praised many times for this thoughtful gesture.
