One person was injured last night following the latest crash at a dangerous junction outside Donegal town.
Gardaí and emergency services attended the scene of the two vehicle collision at around 9pm at the Leghowney turnoff on the N15, between Clar chapel and Barnesmore.
“A man (40s) was injured and taken to Letterkenny University Hospital. Investigations are ongoing,” a garda spokesperson told Donegal Daily.
Last month two people, a man in his 40s and a woman in her 70s, were hospitalised following a two-vehicle crash at the same junction (below).
At the time, we reported that roads engineers from Donegal County Council were examining problematic junctions on the main routes to Donegal town following a number of other incidents.
Concerns also surround the Tullyleague exit just after the Tullyearl roundabout and other areas.
Fine Gael Councillor Manus Boyle brought Donegal residents’ fears to last month’s meeting of the council.
In an update following the meeting, Cllr Boyle said the discussion centred on several problematic right-hand turn lanes on main roads surrounding the town.
He said he was assured by the roads engineer that these junction issues have been reported to the authority.
“With my representation this morning, this will further reinforce the urgency of the matter,” Cllr Boyle said.
