Celebrations are well underway in Glenties today as local lady Gunborg Benvick turns 105 years young!
Gunborg is marking another milestone year surrounded by family and friends in Glenmacannive.
Born in Jakobstad, Finland, in 1919, Gunborg has lived a rich and eventful life. She spent two decades in South Africa, where she learned to speak English, before returning to her native country in the early 1980s.
For many years, Gunborg would make annual visits to her son and grandchildren in Glenties.
Since reaching the age of 90, Gunborg has made Glenties her permanent home, residing with her son Sune, grandson Sven Sjöholm, granddaughter Louise Byrne, and her six great-grandchildren: Patrick, Tony, Shaun, Karolina, Sara, and Henrik. Gunborg also has two great-great grandchildren, Sera Jane and Sophie.
Her secret to a long and healthy life? Gunborg puts her longevity down to her active lifestyle, particularly keeping busy in the garden.
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday!
