Gardai have issued a warning to stop speeding, especially in the current bad weather across Donegal.
Two vehicles were detected being driven in excess of the speed limit today by Buncrana Roads Policing Unit in the Newtowncunningham area.
One of the drivers was caught doing a speed of 147 kph and the other doing a speed of 137kph.
Gardai said both vehicles had just performed an overtaking manoeuvre.
“The road surface was wet at the time as are all roads in this spell of poor weather.
“It takes longer to stop a vehicle on wet roads so SLOW DOWN and allow extra distance between you and the vehicle in front.
“Be aware of the danger of aquaplaning. Use dipped headlights at all times of poor visibility to ensure that you are seen by other motorists.”
