A highly-skilled K9 helped to sniff out thousands of euro worth of drugs at various locations across Donegal during the weekend.
Thanks to Alfie, a detector dog with Revenue Customs Service, a number of arrests were made.
Along with his handler, he assisted the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit with checkpoints and searches throughout the weekend as part of Operation Tara. As a result, ten people were detected in possession of controlled drugs.
One man was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving after failing to stop for Gardaí. Cocaine and cannabis with a market value of €3,150 were also seized during the operation.
A second male was arrested and interviewed on suspicion of cultivating cannabis. He was interviewed and released pending analysis of the seized items and submission of a file to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
Anyone who may have information in relation to the sale and supply of controlled drugs is asked to contact the Donegal Divisional Drugs Unit in confidence on 074-9167100, or any Garda Station. The Garda Confidential Line can also be reached on 1800 666 111.
