Donegal County Council has issued a notice to farmers to be considerate of their neighbours when using crow bangers.
Farmers experiencing issues with birds damaging crops or grain stores often use crow bangers as an effective deterrent.
In a bid to tackle noise pollution, the council is asking farmers to “please make sure that crow bangers are not impacting on your neighbours’ sleep.”
A spokesperson said: “Don’t use them near residential buildings between sunset and sun rise and use bales or barriers to screen from houses. Electronic bird scarers, which use distress and danger calls along with harassment sounds of predator birds are a better alternative causing the birds to relocate to a safer location.”
