A group of cyclists from Laghey have raised more than €20,000 in honour of a young boy who has Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy.
The 12 participants in the fundraising challenge climbed Mount Errigal on Saturday morning, before then amazingly completing a 100km cycle from the mountain all the way back to the Seven Arches in Laghey.
It was all done in honour of 7-year-old Aaron Langan from Laghey, who has lived with Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy since his diagnosis at 18 months old.
The condition causes muscles to deteriorate over time, which Aaron now has to deal with daily.
Aaron’s father Dermot took part in the fundraising climb and cycle, and was joined by Paul McGroarty, Barry Breslin, Pete Walsh, Gary Langan, Dermot Curristian, Darragh Gallagher,Keith Walsh, Mark Gallagher and Edward Timoney.
At the time of writing, over €21,800 was raised by the community, an incredible effort.
The funds raised will go towards Aaron’s future care, MD Ireland, and Liquid Therapy.
