Job Vacancy: Fanad Lighthouse are looking for an enthusiastic and motivated person to join our team as Retail Supervisor. This is a full-time post.
Responsibilities will include overseeing day-to-day operations of our gift-shop and coffee station, implementing the company’s vision and strategy and working with management to prepare for an upscaling of current facilities in the near future.

Fanad Lighthouse is a signature point on the Wild Atlantic Way. The lighthouse operated by Forbairt Fhánada CTR, is open to the public offering guided tours of the lighthouse and accommodation in the refurbished lightkeepers cottages.
We have a gift shop and coffee station on-site with exciting plans to extend the shop and open a café in the near future.
Our ideal candidate will share our enthusiasm for sustainable tourism, great customer service and be committed to a high quality, locally sourced when possible, products and food.
The Retail Supervisor will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of this area of our business and the adhering to all safe catering regulations.
We are located in a Gaeltacht area and all the team are involved in driving sustainable tourism that promotes the culture and language of the area.
Essential Criteria:
- Relevant experience in a similar role.
- A commitment to sustainable practices.
- Excellent people skills
Desirable Criteria:
- Good Knowledge of Safe Catering Guidelines
- Experience of the catering industry and an interest in food.
- Good spoken Irish
Job Description
Oversee all activity in the shop, online shop and coffee station including:
Ensuring a pleasant working environment with excellent customer focused service
Health & Safety
Adhering to safe catering regulations and maintaining all records
Making sure all areas, public and private, are regularly cleaned and checked and all equipment is safely stored.
Stock Control
Preparing orders of stock, cleaning materials etc for Finance Officer
Coordinating receiving of merchandise
Maintaining online shop and preparing on-line sales for delivery
Overseeing monthly stock-takes
Ensuring shop is well stocked at all times and goods are displayed safely and attractively
Staff Supervision
Ensure appropriate staffing levels
Oversee activities to ensure standards of cleaning and customer service are adhered to
Sustainability
Promote and implement the organisations sustainability policy including ethical purchasing and waste management.
Reporting
Tracking sales and income to monitor profit /loss and to inform future planning
Ensuring that financial procedures are followed in relation to cash handling and reporting and that any variances are reported and investigated.
Weekly and ongoing communication with management will be essential.
