Job Vacancy: The Irish Cancer Society are recruiting Registered General Nurses to join their Night Nursing team to provide palliative care in patient’s homes throughout rural Donegal.
Availability: Must be available 1/2/3 nights per month.
Duties:
- Participate in the planning, assessment, implementation and evaluation of nursing care for palliative patients in their own home.
- Lone working role, providing symptom management and end of life care for malignant and non-malignant patients.
- Provide advice, support and education for the carers and family according to their needs.
- Administer medicinal preparations in accordance with NMBI Guidance for Registered Nurses and Midwives on Medication Administration (NMBI, 2020) Code of Professional Conduct (Code NMBI, 2021) and ICS policies and procedures.
Requirements:
- Must be a Registered General Nurse with the NMBI
- Dual qualified in General and Paediatrics desirable
- Must have worked in a clinical setting within the last 3 years
- Some Palliative Care experience essential
- Shifts: 11:00pm to 7:00am and 5:00pm to 11:00pm as required
- Working alone & providing palliative care in patient’s home
- As per the Working Time Act, we cannot accept candidates currently working full time
