Sligo swimmer Mona McSharry has hinted that she won’t be hanging up the goggles just yet after her Olympic success.
The bronze medal holder stunned fans earlier this month when she said that Paris may be her last Olympics.
Following her 100m medal win, she told RTE: “Knowing that this is most likely my last Olympics, so I am really happy to come away with a medal.”
Now, McSharry has said she is looking forward to some downtime to assess her next move.
Speaking at the Team Ireland homecoming in Dublin on Monday, Mona was asked by RTE’s Marty Morrissey of a possible retirement.
“We’ll take it one year at a time,” she said.
“I’m taking four months off to chill and then I’ll see if I miss it that much or want to move into the next phase of life but we’ll see.”
