Donegal’s cultural identity will be celebrated on RTÉ Radio 1’s ‘The County Measure’ next weekend.
Join writer and broadcaster Vincent Woods (main pic) as he delves into the county on Sunday August 18th at 10 AM. The County Measure uncovers the vibrant arts, history, heritage, sport, and diverse communities of County Donegal.
From the admirable volunteer spirit on Árainn Mhór, to guth galánta na hamhránaíochta as Gaoth Dobhair, and the mesmerising beauty of Malin Head, Vincent takes a measure of all that Tír Chonaill has to offer.
“Donegal – Tír Chonaill – drifts in like a mist, a spirit,” Woods says.
“You cross some invisible border and you’re in: voices flinting high and clear on the road; Errigal shining long before it’s visible, the surge of the ocean resounding, the pull of strand and dune strong to the feet, music and song echoing in a house that will never falter.”
The County Measure is a landmark RTÉ Radio 1 series that explores the identity and communities of Ireland’s 32 counties.
The series previously visited several counties including Cork, Longford, Sligo, and Tyrone.
