Clg an Tearmainn are reporting a great response to the launch of the Smoke and Vape Free Grounds initiative on Sunday last during the home championship games at the Burn Road.
The GAA are encouraging all clubs to become smoke- free which means no smoking on the club grounds, including e-cigarettes. The GAA is the heartbeat of every community and they believe that this type of initiative will not only raise awareness but also protect people from second-hand smoke, reduce smoking initiation rates among young people and increase the amount of people seeking help to quit.
There is support available for anyone who wishes to avail of the service by contacting the local stop smoking advisor, Fiona Boyle at stopsmokingdonegal@hse.ie or at 0872514790, or any of the Termon healthy clubs team.
“We’d like to thank the national schools in the locality who took time out to participate in the art competition. Winners will be announced soon, with the winners having their works hung up in the new clubhouse when completed,” said a club spokesperson.
“Thanks also is extended to our health & wellbeing officer, James Cassidy, the Smoking cessation office for their assistance and the club members and executive for their support in this important initiative.
“Finally, a word of thanks to our Healthy Clubs Committee for their great work on this project
“Look out for more healthy clubs initiatives in the coming months.”
