Termon 4-14 v 0-16 Naomh Columba

Two goals in the first three minutes by Daire McDaid set the tone for this impressive intermediate championship opening victory by Termon over Naomh Columba at the Burn Road. McDaid took advantage of a poor kick-out in the first minute and then a super pass from Bobby McGettigan to give the home team a brilliant start.
Shane Callaghan opened Glen’s account but Enda McCormick replied with three points in a row, a free , a mark and one from play. Pauric Hegarty and Pauric Ward both pointed for Glen but Jack Alcorn, McCormick and McDaid added Termon points to make it 2-06 to 0-03 points after twenty minutes.
Ward added his second point but two excellent points from play by Cian McMenamin had Termon ten points clear at half-time 2-08 to 0-04 and in control.
Enda McCormick and Aaron Doherty exchanged frees early in the second-half then McCormick for Termon and Darragh Cunningham and Aaron Doherty added further points, 2-10 to 0-07. McCormick then set up Daire McDaid for his hat-trick of goals and added another point himself, 3-11 to 0-07.
Credit to Naomh Columba who hit the next four points, Shane Callaghan with two, Aaron Doherty and Declan Maguire one apiece, 3-11 to 0-11.
Enda McCormick and Aaron Doherty exchanged two points apiece and then Paul O Hare and Doherty added two for the visitors, 3-13 to 0-15 points. Daire McDaid converted a penalty after a foot block foul and McCormick with his tenth point and Aaron Doherty with his seventh rounded off the scoring at 4-14 to 0-16 points for Termon.
