Young Charles Boyle has made an incredible piece of history at the annual Fleadh Cheoil in Wexford.
The boy from Tory Island has achieved a first for the island – winning a competition at the annual Fleadh na hEireann.
11-year-old Charles won the Under-12s sean nós singing competition in fine style in Wexford yesterday.
Surrounded by his family and a large group of supporters, Charles put on a brilliant performance to take home the title to Tory Island.
“Charles started singing from a very young age and has always had such an interest in it,” Lauren Boyle proudly told Donegal Daily.
She continued; “He would listen to Seamus Ò Dubhgáin (Jimmy Mhary Bhillie) and Lilis Ó Laoire all the time and that has influenced him in his love for sean nós.”
“A group of 20 travelled down on the McGeehan bus yesterday morning and back up in the evening to support Charles.”
“We are all heading into Tory again this evening for a big celebration in the Tory Island Hotel!”
