Discover the joy of the Irish language through song through Community Singing Le Chéile workshops, taking place on Saturday, 24th August at The Vestry in Letterkenny.
These unique workshops are designed by a talented trio of artists: Brid Falconer, an education, technology and creative media cross sector professional and Irish language teacher, Sinead Gallagher, also known as ‘The Singing Woman’, a Donegal based singer songwriter and facilitator and Lorna McLaughlin, musician, composer and core member of the highly acclaimed sister folk trio The Henry Girls. Lorna will lead us in both workshops.
During these workshops we will be singing mini versions of well-known songs, maybe even some of your favourites, transformed through simple and fun harmonies, dynamic arrangements and all within the beautiful sound and meaning of the Irish Language.
No prior singing nor Irish experience required.
Everything is simpler than you’d imagine and will be taught by ear.
This is a beautiful opportunity to engage both your singing voice in the safety of a group and the native language of Ireland. All are welcome.
Two workshops are taking place on the day and people can join one (€7.40 per workshop) or both (€11.70 for two).
This project is supported by Creative Ireland, Donegal County Council, Department of Tourism, Culture, Arts, Gaeltacht, Sports and Media.
