A status yellow warning for rain has been issued for County Donegal, as heavy downpours are expected on Sunday and Monday.
Met Éireann has also issued the warning for counties Sligo, Leitrim, Mayo, Galway and Clare.
The national forecaster says that periods of heavy rain coupled with strong and gusty winds are expected, with the weather warning for Donegal spanning from 1pm on Sunday afternoon until 1pm on Monday.
Met Éireann say that there will be a potential for localised flooding, difficult travelling conditions and poor visibility for road users.
There is also the potential of damage to temporary structures with the rain and wind expected.
