A driver in Letterkenny was caught 42 km/h over the speed limit as Gardaí continue their Bank Holiday weekend operations.
The driver was pinged doing 121 km/h in an 80 km/h zone on the R250 at Conwal.
Gardaí say their road policing units nationwide have checked over 125,000 vehicles for speeding and other poor driving behaviours.
The highest speed clocked was a driver doing 186 km/h in a 100 km/h zone in County Kilkenny.
In a statement to media, An Garda Síochána said that “it is positive that the majority of motorists are travelling within the designated speed, however, 440 drivers have been detected and some have been especially dangerous.”
“Remember to please slow down and drive safely today and every day. An Garda Síochána continues to monitor and conduct checkpoints on our roads, using our technology to detect those speeding nationwide.”
