Rowers Paul O’Donovan and Fintan McCarthy have won the lightweight double sculls and claimed two more gold medals for Ireland at the 2024 Olympic Games.
The official time for Cork rowers O’Donovan and McCarthy is 6:10.99, just under three seconds clear of the Italians in second place.
The Skibbereen athletes were simply in a different class.
They moved to the front after around 900 metres, and never looking in any danger of missing that gold medal.
There was a huge Irish crowd at the end of the race with hundreds of tri-colours in the audience.
Record breaker O’Donovan has now claimed medals at three successive Olympic Games.
