The No Barriers Foundation in Letterkenny, Co. Donegal, is seeking to recruit a Clinical Specialist – Neurological Physiotherapist to join their team.
Title: Clinical Specialist – Neurological Physiotherapist
Role: 40 hours
Responsible to: Services Coordinator/CEO/Chairperson/Board of Directors
Duration: Full time
Role Summary:
The Clinical Specialist Neurological Physiotherapist will be responsible for providing expert physiotherapy services to clients with neurological conditions such as Stroke, Spinal Cord Injury, Multiple Sclerosis, Parkinson’s disease, and Traumatic Brain Injuries. This role involves comprehensive initial assessments, individual treatment planning, and implementation of therapeutic interventions to optimise functional abilities and quality of life.
Main Duties:
Client Assessment & Treatment Delivery
- Provide specialist neurological physiotherapy for clients with a variety of neurological conditions.
- Complete initial client assessments collaboratively and document appropriate treatment plans.
- Monitor, evaluate and modify treatment in order to measure progress and ensure the effectiveness of interventions.
- Work closely with a multidisciplinary team delivering excellent therapy and responding in a timely manner.
Education and Support:
- Communicate effectively with clients and carers to maximise rehabilitation potential and their understanding of the condition.
- Educate and advise clients and/or carers on how to improve their conditions or prevent further injury.
Quality & Professionalism
- Comply with the Irish Chartered Society of Physiotherapy codes of professional conduct at all times.
- Value each client as an individual, respect their aspirations, beliefs, commitments, and seek to understand their priorities, needs, abilities and limitations
- Deliver a high-quality service focussing on safety, confidentiality, good communication and professionalism
- Lead service development and continuous improvement of quality
- Ensure a high level of quality assurance over all clinical services
- Ensure that all client case notes and reports are maintained correctly.
- To obtain all patient statistics and ensure they are recorded accurately, in an ethical manner and in line with legislation and policy.
Clinical Leadership & Service Management
When the Services Manager is unavailable, duties will include:
- Supervision of the staff and ensuring adequate cover for the service at all times
- Identify needs and develop staff to achieve optimum efficiency and up to date CPD requirements
- Delegation of work to staff to ensure best use of each individuals time and skillset
- Manage and monitor performance standards of team members against agreed service levels, targets and budgets
- Handle escalated customer queries and problems, reporting the ongoing situation of each one to the Services Coordinator.
- Retention of and referrals from clients through service satisfaction.
- Promote a culture of teamwork that is market driven, client focused and employee centred.
- Active participation in selected business and community initiatives.
- Adhere to all company rules and policies at all times.
- To carry out any other duties as requested by management from time to time.
Requirements:
- Current registration and in good standing with the relevant professional regulatory body. CORU registered and ISCP registered.
- Bachelor Degree in Physiotherapy from an accredited institution. Masters desirable.
- Minimum of 6 years clinical experience as a Neurological Physiotherapist.
- Advanced clinical skills and expertise in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning for complex neurological population
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and patient-centred care skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a multidisciplinary team environment.
- Full eligibility to work in Ireland with excellent proficiency in English.
- Access to a car required.
