A Donegal farmer has been praised after he intervened when a drunk passenger went berserk on a Ryanair flight.
Stuart Wilson, 52, from Dunfanaghy, was flying from Manchester to Lanzarote when the terrifying incident happened.
Stuart said he felt compelled to act as “airline security” when a drunk passenger lost his temper.
He claimed there were people vaping and drinking on the flight when an intoxicated man woke up and went into a rage.
“Apart from their drinking and vaping, it was peaceful. But then he woke up and went bananas. His girlfriend was sitting with him and he just went into this rage.”
“You could tell he’d been drinking a lot. I don’t know if drugs were used, but this was outrageous behaviour.”
“He knocked his girlfriend’s glasses off her head and started punching the baggage bins above his head. He punched the ceiling and the armrests, the seat in front.”
“This guy was roaring, calling his girlfriend a slut, a slapper, a whore. He kept calling her a whore. He was roaring abuse at her and wouldn’t sit down,” he told Independent.ie
He added “We were trying to get him to settle down and he was having none of it. His girlfriend was inconsolable. She was crying and shaking. Her friends were giving her more vodka, trying to calm her down.
“Everyone was trying to get him to stop. There were kids on the plane and an older person. People were crying, they were so upset.
“An older person on the plane was crying. People were roaring for him to stop.”
