Public toilets in Rossnowlagh at the Surf Club have been restored to working order after a blockage issue.
Beachgoers were shocked by scenes of blocked and overflowing toilets in recent days.
It has been confirmed that the sewer pipe was clogged with cardboard that had been stuffed down the toilets. Donegal County Council staff have now cleared the blockage and the toilets were reopened to the public at 4pm yesterday.
A spokesperson for Donegal County Council clarified that the issue was isolated to the Surf Club toilets, as the facilities in the main carpark remained unaffected.
“There are two toilet blocks in Rossnowlagh which are connected to the mains sewer and mains water, one at the Surf Club car park and one in the large main carpark, These toilet blocks are serviced on Monday, Wednesday and Saturday morning,” the spokesperson said.
“In general these public toilets work very well if not interfered with, and the public are asked to respect other users and leave toilets as they would like to find them.”
