Gardaí probe if Letterkenny fire was started deliberately

Gardaí are investigating a suspicious fire that destroyed a garage in the Lismonaghan area of Letterkenny last week.

Emergency services were called to the scene at a derelict house in the early hours of Friday morning (around 5am). The fire in a garage on the property, near Rowan Park, was extinguished by the Donegal Fire Service.

“It has not been ruled out that the fire may have been started maliciously,” said a garda spokesperson in a statement today.

“We are appealing to anybody who may have travelled in the Lismonaghan area with a dash cam between the hours of 4am and 5.15am on that date to make contact with Gardaí in Letterkenny on 074-9167100. If anybody observed any suspicious activity in that area that morning, we also ask them to get in touch with us.”
