There will be some familiar faces (and some furry ones!) on UK and Irish TV screens tonight as Inishowen features on a popular travel series – Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out.
The Scottish comedian recently visited Malin Head, the Wild Ireland residents of Burnfoot`, Ballyliffin and Derry in her vintage campervan “Helen Mirren”, trying her hand at a range of activities and meeting people from all over.
Tonight’s episode, which airs on Channel 5 at 9pm, sees Susan tours the iconic Wild Atlantic Way and the breath-taking rugged landscape of Malin Head. The Farren family was on hand to welcome Susan to the land of Star Wars, where Mark Hamill (Luke Skywalker) and crew filmed in 2016. Susan also checks out the famous Farren’s Bar – which is Ireland’s most northerly pub!

Susan’s Donegal adventures extend to Burnfoot, where she visits Wild Ireland and meets Killian McLaughlin, the Buncrana man who has reintroduced wolves to the Irish wilderness for the first time in two centuries.
In Ballyliffin, she visits the home of the best chowder in the world – Nancy’s Barn and stops by Pollan Bay.
In Derry, Susan tours the home of ‘Derry Girls’ and meets the man famous for creating the contemporary murals that transformed the city.
The programme is a must-see for inspiration for a ‘grand day out’ and it’s hoped it will inspire more visitors to check out the wonders of the northwest.
Episode four of Susan Calman’s Grand Day Out is on Channel 5 this Thursday 25th July 9pm – 10pm.
