Donegal White 2 – 1 Ballnamallard Academy
Donegal White 0 – 0 Top of the Hill Celtic
U13 Girls Section Donegal White Our wee superstars finished as Runners Up in the Foyle Cup Vase League this morning They had a tough week, but put on context with 4 players eligible for the U11 competition and the rest a year young they performed amazing against older physical squads They found the rhyme today drawing their first game against Ballymoor 1-1, next up was a super victory against Ballnamallard Academy 2-1 and the final game drawing with league toppers Top of the Hill 0-0. Many thanks to the parents who helped out during the week and especially today as we were under pressure with coaches.
5th place for Donegal Greens in the U13 Girls Foyle Cup Section. This was an amazing achievement for the girls despite playing a year underage not to be phased by the bigger stronger teams First up today was Tristar in the Quarter final, after equalising twice the girls found themselves 3-2 down after the referee awarded a goal kick to Tristar instead of a corner to us. This was the only defeat the girls suffered the whole week. The girls dusted themselves off and beat Sion Swifts 2-1 before beating Crumlin Stars on penalties after a 1-1 draw. Many thanks to Leo Gallagher who helped throughout the week also to all the parents for their support and travelling each day.

0 – 0 at half time. Second half the Sion girls went two up early on but the Donegal girls never gave up and worked relentless and piled the pressure on Sion in the last 15 minute. Brianna Ferry on the double got two goals to bring it back to a draw just on the final whistle. Down now to a Penalty shoot with Sion just edging it 5-4.
Gallant performance by our young Donegal Ladies that gave everything for each other all week. This leaves them as runners up in the Plate section and an overall 6th place. Well done everyone.
Foyle Rosebowl
Final
Donegal Green 3 – 1 Belfast Swifts
Following an exciting four days of football the u15 Donegal Green team, made up of a selection of girls from the county 2010 and 2009 teams, lifted the Foyle Cup Rosebowl.
Their campaign started on Monday evening with a titanic battle against Greencastle on their home turf. With Meabh Sweeney putting the girls 1 up after 25mins it looked like the girls had done enough to keep Greencastle at bay only for a late surge of two goals in the last 5 mins to send Donegal home deflated after a superb performance. Claragh Gallagher and Isla Larkin were standout players for Donegal in this game as they drove the team forward with Etáin Gatins absorbing a lot of the pressure for the Donegal defence.
Next up was away in Kildrum against a well organised Tristar team. The girls following the disappointment made sure of their points in this game and with goals from Meabh, Claragh and Maria McLaughlin and clean sheet from Elianne McFadden they secured their points. This was a difficult game for the girls with only one sub available on the day but this didn’t stop them with Aoibhinn McCauley and Ava Harkin pushing their teammates on.
Wednesday seen the girls making the trip to Lisnagelvin to take on the unbeaten group leaders Ballymoney Utd. The girls were very unlucky to concede 12mins into the game following an injury to their keeper Elianne but Amy Hunter took her place betweeen the posts and put in a player of the match display with a number of massive saves. Defensively Donegal worked hard as a unit with Emma McCool and Sarah Campbell leading the charge. This result meant the girls finished as best placed third team and placed in the Rosebowl section.
First up today at 1 was a semi final and a rematch against Greencastle. With the girls learning a lot from their first game and really coming together as a team they relished the chance of this meeting again. It was an intense semi final after Donegal scored through Meabh Sweeneys solo run from the edge of her own box 15 mins into the game as Greencastle kept hitting long balls at the defence. Kelsey Parke kept the back line in order and with Grace McGowan on the wing giving the team lots of energy with her runs the girls were delighted when the final whistle went as they headed to Dungiven for their final at 5 against Belfast Swifts. This game started with high intensity as both keepers were put to the test early on a number of times but it was the Donegal girls who broke the deadlock after 25mins. Sarah hit a long distance free which the keeper spilled and Maria was quickest to react and found the back of the net. Unfortunately Belfast found the equaliser on the stoke of half time but the Donegal girls came out showing their class in the second half and following high presses and hard work Aoibhinn McCauley put the ball passed the keeper twice. Belfast were technically very good but again the Donegal girls absorbed all their attacks with Elianne, Cara McFadden and Annie Kerr stepping up for the team. There were jubilant scenes at the final whistle and despite the exhaustion from a grueling match, their faces lit up with joy as they embraced, cheered, and reveled in their hard-earned victory. Coaches Syria and Úna are very proud and delighted with the commitment, performances and determination shown by this group all week and awarded Ava Harkin with the player of their tournament.

Day 3

Day 4
DWL Under 14 1 – 1 Limavady Colts (Limavady win on pens)
Day 5
DWL Under 14 2 – 4 Glen Rovers
DWL 2011 girls had a great week in the U12 Boys O’Neills Foyle Cup CompetitionIn our first game against Moyola Park we got beat 3-0, with girls playing well in periods but the lessons learned in this game improving first touch, quicker decisions on the ball and move the ball quicker gave the girls a base to continue the weekNext game against Dungannon the girls were 2-0 down at halftime but came out more determined in the second half and got two goals back through Clodagh McAteer Result 2-2Last group game against Maiden City, once again on the back foot but another comeback to make it 1-1 through Neasa Diver. So we finished 3rd in group and into the Vase sectionIn a physical quarter final against Bushmills 1-0 down at half time, the more the other team punched off the ball the more determined the girls got, we scored three quick goals, through Aisling McGinley, Megan Doherty and Ella Brennan, with Bushmill pulling one back with minutes remain to make it 3-2 in our favour
The semi-final the girls dominated the full game against Limavady but just couldn’t get that goal ahead being 1-1 at full time, through Rhea Robinson’s free kick we had no luck in the penalties
Our last game against Glen Rovers again down 2-0 at half time the girls pulled it back to 2-2 through Neasa Diver and Savanna Keys with six minutes remaining Glen Rovers pushed on to score twice, losing the game 4-2. The girls can be so proud of their achievements during the week, and being able to stay in a fast-paced game and pushing themselves to pull results back is a credit to them. The experience of playing boys is a positive for their development.
Day 6
DWL Under 14 4 – 4 Ardstraw Youths (Donegal win 5-4 on Pens)
Donegal 2010 squad finished on a high with an 8 goal thriller which went to penalties against Ardstraw Youths. The girls won the shoot-out 5-4 after a 4-4 draw. This squad finished 21st overall in the boys section out if 54…a great achievement
Only losing 2 games from 6 all week.
