Man placed under strict curfew at Ballyshannon Court

A man was placed under a strict curfew when he appeared at Ballyshannon District Court on Friday.

Gary Duncan was brought before the court over a public order incident at Church Street, Sligo on Thursday, July 18.

Duncan has been charged under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice (Public Order) Act, 1994 as amended by Section 22 of the Intoxicating Liquor Act 2008. He is charged with being intoxicated in a public place.

Duncan, a 37-year-old of Seaview Park, Strandhill Road, Sligo, was granted bail on strict conditions.

Inspector Angela Cummins told the court that conditions were required in order for Duncan to be granted bail.

Duncan, who was represented by solicitor Mr Tom MacSharry, must obey a curfew between 9pm and 7am.

Duncan must sign on daily at Sligo Garda Station, be of sober habits, reside at an address given to gardai.

He was also ordered to stay away from licenced premises.

Judge Liddy granted bail in Duncan’s own bond of €100. Legal aid was granted to Mr MacSharry and Duncan is to appear again on Thursday, July 25 at Sligo District Court.
