Waterford FC 2 – 1 Cockhill Celtic
Cockhill Celtic are out of the FAI Cup after a valiant effort against Premier Division opposition.
They had a long road to travel to play Waterford FC, but got off to a dream start in the 13th minute when Luke Rudden cooly slotted away a chance after a quick counter attack stunned the Premier Division side.
Waterford were able to get back on level terms eight minutes later as Gbemi Arubi netted.
Things remained level until the end of the first half, but a 47th minute strike from Waterford’s Ryan Burke consigned the FAI Junior Cup champions to an exit from the Senior competition.
Still, a fine effort from Cockhill to take the game to Premier League opposition away from home that they can certainly take pride from.
