Taoiseach Simon Harris TD will address the 44th Annual MacGill Summer School which opens in Glenties tomorrow.
The Fine Gael leader is scheduled for an ‘In Conversation’ discussion with Professor Cathy Gormley-Heenan on Friday 19th July.
This year’s international forum will take place on July 18th-20th, delving into the theme of ‘On the Brink’.
The world finds itself at a number of tipping points in 2024, with war in Gaza and Ukraine; elections in the U.S. and UK, and the ongoing AI revolution. MacGill Summer School 2024 sets out to analyse the urgent issues facing Ireland and look for new ways to navigate these turbulent times with national and global experts from the world’s of politics, media, public health, security, intelligence, technology and neuroscience.
Among the speakers will be Minister for Transport Eamon Ryan, Sinn Féin Deputy Dáil Leader Pearse Doherty, and Ireland’s Former Chief Medical Officer Dr. Tony Holohan.
Media entrepreneur Mark Little, former RTÉ Chair Siún Ní Raghallaigh, MEP Frances Fitzgerald, cybersecurity expert Prof. Ciaran Martin, Brigadier Phil McKee, University of Limerick Chancellor Prof. Brigid Laffan, and Prof. Roja Fazaeli of University of Galway also join the line-up.
Key topics to be discussed at MacGill this year encompass a wide range of pressing issues.
