Glenties MD councillor Michael McClafferty has issued a reminder to the public that this Thursday 18th July is the deadline for submissions on the Draft County Donegal Development Plan 2024-2030.
The draft plan deals with National Policy which restricts one-off building of homes accessing the N56.
The issue has long been a source of contention for people who encounter planning issues on this National Secondary road which stretches from Donegal Town clockwise to Letterkenny, passing through areas including Mountcharles, Ardara, Glenties, Dungloe, Falcarragh, Dunfanaghy, Creeslough and Kilmacrennan.
Within the plan, Donegal County Council seeks to enable the continued survival of our rural and Gaeltacht
communities by allowing, where necessary the appropriate, very limited but essential family access to
the N56.
Cllr McClafferty said there is an opportunity now for those affected to voice their opinion: “4.30pm, Thursday the 18th July 2024, is the deadline members of the public can email their support for people to be allowed to build on the N56 from the 3 points in Killybegs right to the Mountain Top in Letterkenny.
“I’d appeal to the public to please email the following 3 offices. Just a few lines why you support your fellow neighbours in securing planning to build on their own lands especially: ForwardPlanning@housing.gov.ie Alan.dillon@oireachtas.ie info@opr.ie .”
