Letterkenny man in court on charge of assault causing harm to woman

A Letterkenny man is due to stand trial over two alleged assaults on a woman.

Manus McCole appeared at Letterkenny District Court on Monday.

A book of evidence was served on the 32-year-old, of Scribly, Letterkenny.

Gardai gave evidence of serving a book of evidence on the accused at 11.12am at Letterkenny courthouse.

McCole is charged with two separate alleged incidents.

He is charged that on August 12, 2019 at Main Street, Ballyshannon, he assaulted one Sanaa Lamkharbech causing her harm.

McCole is also charged with assaulting Ms Lamkharbech causing her harm at The Old Forge, Ballylin, Ramelton, on November 4, 2018.

The charges are contrary to Section 3 of the Non-Fatal Offences Against the Person Act, 1997.

Sergeant Maurice Doyle told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to the accused being sent forward for trial to the next sitting of Letterkenny Circuit Court, which commences in October.

Judge Éiteáin Cunningham made an order returning McCole for trial and administered the alibi warning.

Judge Cunningham made a section 56 order, relating to videos of interviews.

Legal aid was granted to solicitor Mr Robert Ryan and one legal counsel was assigned.

Bail was granted on the same terms.
