ESB Networks is to begin work this week to increase the power supply to factories in Killybegs.
Local Independent Councillor, Niamh Kennedy, said this would result in outages for ‘short periods’ outside of business hours.
“ESB Networks are transforming the power in the town to 220 KV to support the massive power needed by the local factories,” she said.
“The power outages will take place for short periods of time and will not affect the businesses in the town during daytime hours. This (outages) cannot happen during the day during our holiday season.”
Cllr Kennedy said the ESB crews will be working mainly at night and early morning for the much needed infrastructure upgrade.
“I have been in touch with ESB management and they have confirmed this,” she concluded.
