A Buncrana craftswoman is toasting to incredible recognition for her vintage upcycling work.
Mary Doherty, who gives vintage furniture a new lease of life in unique ways, turned a tired cabinet into a stunning bespoke mobile bar for Tanqueray No. Ten gin.
The emerald green, sustainably made bar was created for Diageo. Her vision was just the tonic and now has a new home in the Irish Museum of Modern Art.
The gin table will be used for events in the museum, and Mary is over the moon with the recognition for her business, MD Serendipity Designs.
Mary tells Donegal Daily: “My business is only 2 and a half years old, was started during COVID and is run from a workshop at my home.
“The restoration and redesign of vintage furniture has been a hobby of mine for years.
“Being out of work during COVID was the push I needed to pursue this as a career and I cannot believe how well it has been received and recognised and I am incredibly grateful.
“There is so much truth to the saying ‘The magic happens outside of your comfort zone’.”
