Three spectators were arrested by Gardaí after a brawl broke out after a League of Ireland soccer match last night.
The fight took place after Dundalk defeated their local rivals Drogheda United 4-2 in a derby match that also was a relegation six-point pointer for the two teams at the bottom of the Premier Division.
A large group of Drogheda fans invaded the pitch after full-time and charged at the opposing stand where Dundalk spectators can be seen.
In videos shared widely on social media, Drogheda fans can be seen throwing objects at Dundalk supporters and starting a brawl that lasted for several minutes, which Gardaí failed to contain.
Three males were arrested for their involvement in the fight.
It’s understood that two of those arrested were juveniles, according to RTÉ.
Drogheda United released a strongly worded statement on social media condemning the violence last night.
