There will be many divided loyalties this weekend for one Donegal-based Garda who happens to be a native of Galway.
Gda Ronan Steede was ‘forced’ to raise the green and gold flag at Bunbeg Garda Station earlier today, ahead of Sunday’s All-Ireland Semi Final at Croke Park.
And if that wasn’t a difficult enough situation, he is also part of Jim McGuinness’ backroom team in his capacity as a physio.
“When you need help to put up the Donegal flag and the tallest man around the station at the time hails from none other than Galway,” read a post on the official An Garda Síochána Donegal Facebook page.
“Garda Ronan Steede was feeling very torn today at Bunbeg Garda Station when he was asked to fly the flag for Donegal. Garda Steede will be there in his capacity as a physio on Sunday as part of Donegal’s backroom team. We and Garda Steede wish the Donegal team the very best of luck in the All-Ireland SFC semi-final! (He secretly wishes Galway the very best of luck too).”
