Roscommon woman Tori Towey arrived at Dublin Airport this afternoon after Dubai authorities dropped charges against her and allowed her safe return home.
The 28-year-old flight attendant was put under a travel ban in Dubai after she was attacked in her home and faced charges of attempted suicide and alcohol consumption.
Tori has been subjected to domestic violence by her husband in the United Arab Emirates. Following an attempt to take her own life, Dubai authorities blocked her passport and charged her to appear in court this week.
Sinn Féin leader Mary Lou McDonald prompted intervention from the Irish government which led to the charges being dropped yesterday and the Dubai Public Prosecution Office said it had closed the case involving Tori and her husband, a South African national.
Ms Towey, who landed in Dublin with her mother Caroline this afternoon, told reporters she was “so relieved”.
