A small West Donegal watersports company has launched a fundraising drive after its vintage caravan and contents were stolen and burned out last week.
Selkie Sailing’s storage unit, a vintage caravan normally parked at Magheraroarty Pier, was taken on Wednesday, July 3.
The trailer stored all the company’s surfboards and bodyboards, which are vital equipment for their tours.
“It’s a financial ‘loss’ that we might not be able to recover,” company owner, Gareth Dohertys, said at the time.
As a result, they have set up a GoFundMe page to help them get back on their feet.
“We were all shocked and disappointed by the theft and deliberate destruction of our vintage caravan where we stored : surfboards, bodyboards, wetsuits, safety gear etc. which has been situated in Magheraroarty for a few years,” they stated on their fundraising page.
“Everyone has been very kind and supportive and many have suggested we set up this GoFundMe to try and recuperate some of the losses – to at least still be able to carry on offering surfing.”
