July 9, 2024

A young Bundoran man has appeared in court charged with drug dealing.

A book of evidence was served in Ethan Fergus at Friday’s sitting of Ballyshannon District Court.

The 20-year-old of The Causeway, Maghercar, Bundoran, was before Judge Sandra Murphy.

Garda Inspector Angela Cummins told the court that the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has consented to Fergus being forwarded for trial to the next session of Donegal Circuit Court.

The court heard evidence of the service of the book of evidence on Fergus at 12.40pm on Friday.

Fergus is charged that on June 2, 2021 at The Causeway, Crest of the Wave, Magheracar, he had in his possession, a controlled drug, namely cannabis, for the purpose of selling or otherwise supplying it to another. The charge is contrary to Section 15 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977 and contrary to Section 27 (3) of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1977, as substituted by Section 6 of the Misuse of Drugs Act 1984.

He also faces two charges of the possession of cannabis at the same location on the same date.

The accused was represented by solicitor Mr Frank Dorrian and the court heard that the accused can also be sent forward to the Circuit Court on a signed guilty plea.

Judge Murphy remanded Fergus on continuing bail and administered the alibi warning.
