A very cute collie who got a new lease of life in Donegal has made the shortlist of the national ‘Nose of Tralee’ contest.
Ghost, who found his furever home in Killybegs, was part of a litter of eight pups taken into the care of Clare Animal Welfare. The charity’s appeal for adopted owners reached local woman Natasha Peters, who opened her home to a beautiful brown eyed boy she called Ghost.
“He was a quiet little soul when he first came home but has blossomed into such a smart, fun, playful pup,” Natasha said.
Ghost, now five months old, became the perfect companion to Casper, Natasha’s four-year-old border collie who struggled with reactivity issues.
“Ghost seems to have given him a sense of security he didn’t have,” Natasha said.
“As Ghost has caught on to training so quickly, he’s given Casper the encouragement he needed to really take on board his training. His in-house reactivity has reduced dramatically since Ghost came home to us.
“It sounds so cheesy but he’s turned out to be the piece we didn’t realise we were missing.”
Natasha was so proud of Ghost that she entered him into the Pet Sitters Ireland Nose of Tralee pet competition.
With an impressive 1650 entries from all 32 counties in Ireland, the competition has seen a diverse array of pets, including pigs, a bearded dragon, an axolotl, a frog, and numerous birds, in addition to the usual cats and dogs!
Natasha is calling on everyone in Donegal to get behind Ghost and cast a free vote for him before the closing date on 10th July.
