A Scottish MP with family links in Donegal was successfully re-elected this week.
The SNP’s Dave Doogan retained his seat in the Angus and Perthshire constituency.
His parents are from the Rosses area, but MP Doogan was born and grew up in Perth, Scotland.
He was previously MP for the smaller Angus constituency, and did well to maintain his seat in Westminster in the new combined Angus and Perthshire.
Doogan’s victory was a stand-out result for an SNP party that lost significant ground to Labour across Scotland in the elections, as Kier Starmer’s party won a significant majority.
He will now be one of only nine SNP MPs to return to Parliament.
