Comedian Jimmy Carr was gutted to miss the launch of the Muff Liquor Company brand home launch his week, but that didn’t stop his jokes flying!
The stand-up star says he’s merely an amateur ‘muff’ lover but gave a nod to the Muff experts here in Donegal who celebrated the new chapter of the spirits brand on Tuesday.
Jimmy, who is an investor in the company, sent a hilarious video message saying: “I’m unfortunately stuck in London but my mind is fixated on Muff.
“I can’t stop thinking about Muff, and not just any Muff, the Muff Liquor in County Donegal.”
This week’s launch boasted all-star guests including Oscar-winning Gladiator actor Russell Crowe, Boyzone legend Ronan Keating and presenter Ryan Tubridy. The ‘Muff Men’ investors, as they call themselves, also includes popstar Ed Sheeran.
The Muff Liquor Brand Home, which includes a shop, visitor centre and bar, is expected to open to the public by the end of August.
Despite missing the launch party, Jimmy Carr’s tongue-in-cheek video applauded the mighty Muff move into the USA.
Founded by Greencastle woman Laura Bonner, the Muff Liquor Company recently secured a US distribution agreement with Lucas Bols to bring their award-winning Muff Irish whiskey, vodka, and gin to American shelves. To meet this demand, the company confirmed that an initial shipment of 30,000 cases destined for the US market.
It’s hoped that Jimmy will make the journey to the border village soon to enjoy a taste of Muff.
“Hopefully I’ll see you all soon,” he hinted.
