Donegal GAA has issued an ‘urgent’ alert after the email account of its treasurer was hacked.
The incident comes at a time when the County Board is heavily involved in fundraising for its senior team ahead of the All-Ireland semi-final against Galway.
“Urgent – The email account of our treasurer has been hacked and a number of people have received an email which purports to be from Grace Boyle, our treasurer,” a statement from Donegal GAA read.
“Please do not open this email and delete it immediately.”
Donegal Gardai have issued the following fraud prevention advice in the recent past:
- Don’t respond to any unsolicited email seeking personal, financial or security advice.
- Never click on a link or attachment in an unsolicited email.
- If you believe the email is from a genuine source, verify this independently. Independently means independent of the email sender.
