There are hopes of a resolution to the Aer Lingus pilots’ industrial action as the Labour Court launches formal intervention.
A formal hearing will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, with the court to make a recommendation afterwards.
Eight hours of talks took place at the court yesterday between Aer Lingus management and the Irish Airline Pilots’ Association (IALPA), but no breakthrough was reached.
Pilots have moved on their initial demands for a 24% pay increase.
RTE News reports that pilots now continue to seek flexibility and productivity changes in exchange for any pay increases beyond the 12.25% already agreed with other groups of workers. Aer Lingus, meanwhile, has said it will offer pay increases of 12.25%. IALPA claims the company also brought new demands to the Labour Court yesterday.
Almost 400 flights have been cancelled with more disrupted since the industrial action began.
